The sprightly octogenarian, who is better known as "Mama Oon", is a shining example of senior citizens making a difference to society.

As a retired obstetrician and gynaecologist, Dr Oon continues to remain active and is the driving force behind the Apex Harmony Lodge, Singapore's first ever home for elderly patients with dementia.

Awarded the Public Service Medal for her tireless efforts for social service, she stays fit by taking brisk walks and relaxes with a game of mahjong.
