As Consultant Ophthalmologist at the Eye Care Clinic at Mount Elizabeth Medical Centre, Gerard Chuah does not limit himself to mere clinical duties. The dedicated ophthalmologist is also heavily involved in administrative work, including in his portfolio, the planning and layout of the new Tan Tock Seng Eye Clinic, and heading the Day Surgery and Endoscopy Work Group Planning committee for the new Jurong General Hospital.

Over the years, Dr Chuah has also lent his expertise in the realm of academia, having taught Mmed trainees. He has also published extensively in respected publications in the medical field.

With the appointment of Chairman of the National Kidney Foundation Children's Medical Fund in 2001, Dr Chuah has since combined his interest in the medical field with his compassion for the less fortunate through his leadership.
